Prof. Dr. Nuray Ekşi, a member of WISLaw, organized a conference on “Fighting Doping in Sports” together with Yeditepe University Sports Club on 22 April 2017 in Istanbul. The conference which was co-hosted by WISLaw started with the opening speeches of the University representatives. The two sessions of the conference were followed by a questions and answers session.

The speakers from the Turkish Anti-Doping Commission and the Turkish Football Federation Anti-Doping Board as well as academic circles discussed various aspects of fighting against doping in sports. These discussions addressed such wide-ranging issues as the fight against doping in Turkey and in the world, doping in football, disciplinary measures about doping, fair trial in sports law and doping struggle, expanding the jurisdiction of the CAS and the CAS Anti-Doping Division, and doping in the context of the Human Rights Convention. In addition to describing various tactics for overriding doping controls, the speakers shared their experiences from highly interesting cases and cited various important decisions concerning the violation of anti-doping rules.
